Product Development Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Product Development Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. The Product Development Engineer plays a critical role in the ongoing development, sale and installation of new product offerings through the use of mechanical engineering principles, finite element analysis and project tracking

 

Delivery

     Develop new products following the Product Development Process. The process includes developing project budgets, schedules, design specifications, developing and completing test plans of new parts or products, and completing the technical data package (drawings and documentation).

     Develop and establish Risk Assessments and Hazard Analyses for all new products and ride types.

     Develop finite element models for the design of FRP composite elements, steel structural elements and other metals.

     Develop new ride vehicles and update the technical data package of existing ride vehicles.

     Evaluate new configurations to optimize design effectiveness and manufacturability.

 

     Prepare technical specifications for supporting structures.

     Perform on-site ride verification of new and existing products.

 

Quality

     Ensure adherence to governing design codes and standards.

     Evaluate new and existing products including ride features and ride vehicles from a human factors and ergonomics perspective.

     Perform real-time evaluation of rider/ride vehicle position throughout new ride designs and ride features.

     Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure new products are optimally designed for manufacturing.

     Ensure new product verification and validation requirements are complete and

documented.

     Onsite product and ride verification for validation of designed products.

International travel is required.

 

Communication

     Assist with communication with customers or vendors via site visits, conference calls, and other means of communication such as Statements of Work.

     Provide interdepartmental training sessions and presentations regarding new products.

     Support Customer Service team with remote and in-field troubleshooting.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 5+years of relevant work

experience.

     P. Eng licence holder or on track to obtain P. Eng

     Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD.

     Experience with finite element software (ANSYS, ABAQUS, Nastran). Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, explicit dynamics and composite modelling is an asset.

     Ability to design tooling for new products and product modifications.

           Ability to plan and execute team projects in a very fast paced environment
