Senior Hazardous Materials & Environment Specialist

  • Provide senior authorship and review of reports related to Hazardous Materials/Occupational Hygiene projects;
  • Act as a mentor and/or resource in providing training to both employees and clientele in matters relating to Hazardous Materials/Occupational Hygiene;
  • Provide project management leadership, develop work plans and, when required, perform assessments/surveys/investigations and provide on-going progress reporting through client interactions;
  • Provide problem-solving and technical trouble shooting consultancy whereby technical staff can seek advice and support on complex or other technical issues;
  • Manage own time and deliverables within designated project schedules and budgets;
  • Monitor and keep abreast of emerging technical developments, trends and innovations to increase the company’s competitive advantage and meet current/future client requirements;
  • Act as a resource to the working team / coaching and technical project management coaching;
  • Coordinate the work of different stakeholders, manage and / or perform site inspections;
  • Participate in meetings, site meetings and liaise with government agencies and clients to negotiate agreements;
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals and in direct business development activities in support of the strategic growth objectives for the group
  • Drive business development and manage existing client relationships both internally and externally
  • Ensure regular technical support to customers in solving problems;
  • Support the team in achieving the ground monitoring, characterization and field activities


  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant project management work in a senior capacity;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to environmental engineering or equivalent;
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, an asset;
  • Occupational safety and health/industrial hygiene experience including the performance of industrial hygiene (IH) surveys & audits; designated substances surveys (DSS); indoor air quality (IAQ) and noise assessments; asbestos abatement and fiber release assessments;
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the PEO and/or QIQ or Industrial Hygienist;
  • Have demonstrated real and quantifiable success in developing business opportunities;
  • Strong ability to manage and motivate staff, including senior staff;
  • Creative thinking and innovative approach;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication;
  • Large capacities for analysis, action-oriented and driven by the result
