EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Long Term Contract



  • Become familiar with the projects, review available documentation and come to a full understanding of the project objectives and requirements as they relate to project planning and scheduling;
  • Provide subject matter expertise addressing planning and scheduling concerns associated with the proposed design and construction work considering the nature and location of the work, current market conditions and period of construction;
  • Participate with planning and scheduling risk management initiatives and make recommendations in collaboration with the Design/Prime Consultants, Construction Managers and contractors;
  • Coordinate with the Departmental Representative, the Design Consultants, The Construction Managers and the contractors to develop standardized scheduling templates and reporting formats to allow effective integration of respective design and construction schedules with the Project Master Schedule;
  • Review, comment, and make recommendations on design and construction plans and schedules prepared by others;
  • Update and maintain the Project Master Schedule incorporating information provided by the Departmental Representative, the Design Consultants, the Construction Managers and the contractors;
  • Participate with risk management initiatives as requested by the Departmental Representative and make recommendations in collaboration with the Construction Managers and contractors;
  • Review contemplated scope changes and advise on impacts on project plans and schedules;
  • Review contractor schedule proposals for contemplated scope changes; and
  • Review contractor submissions related to construction claims including, but not limited to, delay claims, changes in conditions and other matters as they may impact on the project schedule.

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 8 years of dedicated construction planning, scheduling, monitoring, information analysis and reporting of which a minimum of three 3 years is with construction and/or infrastructure rehabilitation
  • A Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Business from a recognized university or a Civil Engineering Technology college certification with 10 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Working experience with Primavera P6, and is proficient with MS Project V10, as a minimum.
  • At least one of the below:
    • Accreditation as a Professional Engineer and licensed to practice engineering in Canada
    • Accreditation as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI)
    • Accreditation as a Scheduling Professional by the Project Management Institute (PS-PMI)
    • Accreditation as a Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) by the American Association of Cost Engineers (AACE) or equivalent certification from a recognized organization.
