Job Description

  • Determining the scope of the projects, drafting the statement of work and project requirements documents, participating in discussions with clients, and analysing clients’ functional and operational requirements;
  • Preparing project approval documents required for project approval or funding (eg, business cases, feasibility studies);
  • Planning and coordinating the activities of project personnel, contractors and other support providers, including preparing preliminary project design and implementation schedules using MS Project;
  • Managing architectural and engineering and associated specialist teams, reviewing project costs and reconciling variances with predetermined budgets by recommending action and resolving conflicts;
  • Attending project meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes and updating the action items for each project;
  • Preparing or managing project documents, such as the project change orders, field instructions, deficiency reports, commissioning plan, etc.;
  • Briefing consultants and contractors on duties, responsibilities and guidelines pertaining to contract administration, expected safety precautions and on-site behavior;
  • Developing an updated project plan outlining constraints, assumptions, inclusions and exclusions resulting from a review with stakeholders;
  • As required, providing support for bid solicitation processes; contributing to the launch of construction work (preparation and meetings) by helping to manage construction logistics (plan and coordinate work and avoid disrupting building occupants);
  • Maintaining the design change management process whereby changes to the scope of the work are recorded;
  • Monitoring the design, implementation and operations of the project in accordance with set objectives;

Required Skills

  • Relevant education and experience
  • Two recent projects, that clearly demonstrate a minimum of five years of relevant experience in construction project management.
  • One recent project, demonstrating experience in construction project management in an occupied commercial building.
  • Knowledge and professional work experience using the following by creating technical designs or modifying them.: AutoCAD, 3D Auto desk, MS Project
  • Experience in managing administrative and financial aspects of construction projects.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams during construction projects.
  • Experience conducting site inspections during construction projects.
  • Working experience in applying National and Provincial building code standards during construction project site visits and as built reviews
